So think of us as your go-to source for baby safety information. You're going to be a great parent, and we'll be right here with you so you're not alone.
Now, let us begin with the first lesson, There is nothing more beautiful than a sleeping baby, especially for parents who are often overtired themselves. By following a few simple tips, you can create a safer sleeping environment for your baby.
You must put the baby to sleep on the back both for naps and sleeping at night. This will reduce the risk of SIDS. The baby should not sleep on the sides or on the tummy. These positions may cause choking. It has been observed that babies who sleep on their stomachs are at a higher risk of SIDS. Remember "Stomach to play, back to sleep" is best for babies. These are also important for the baby's healthy development.
To decrease the chances of flat spots from forming on your baby's head let the baby lie on the tummy while someone is around and watching. Keep changing the direction of the baby in the sleeping area every week.
We know that stuffed animals, bumpers and all those cute accessories make a baby’s crib seem warm and cozy. Unfortunately, they can often do more harm than good. Soft bedding can block a baby’s airway during sleep. A firm mattress covered with a tight-fitting crib sheet is all you need to make your baby sleep like a baby.
The baby's crib must be kept away from the heat vent or any other direct source of heat or cold air. For preventing the baby from getting overheated it is best to used layered clothing. The baby should not be overdressed. If you’re worried about keeping your baby warm on those cold winter nights, try using a sleep-sack (wearable blanket). They’re pretty cozy.
Most infant suffocation occurs during sleep but don’t worry, your baby will be fine. Just spend a little time to make sure your crib is safe.
If you can fit a can of soda between the slats of a crib, that means a child’s head, hand or foot could get stuck.
Make sure the mattress is firm and fits snugly; otherwise a child could get stuck between the gaps. Cover it with a crib sheet with nothing else in it.
The sleep surface is also very important. Health workers have observed that babies who sleep under or on soft bedding are more likely to die of SIDS.Babies should not sleep on beds, sofas, recliners, chairs, soft surfaces, bouncy chairs or baby swings. If this happens, make sure to return your baby to a safe sleep environment.
New parents have a million things to do, but learning CPR should be on the top of the list. It will give you tremendous peace of mind – and the more peace of mind you have as a parent, the better.

How to Make the Home Safe to Ensure Baby Safety.
Most children under the age of five have little sense of danger they have no idea what they are getting into and unwittingly find themselves at risk to satisfy their curiosity. Very young children drink anything. Are attracted by moving objects and objects that emit interesting noises, and crawl into small spaces. Thus, at a high risk of suffering drowning, poisoning, burns, choking etc.. This natural tendency to explore the world around them, coupled with their inability to recognize danger and to inhibit its own shares may be serious risk to the child. Here are some suggestions to make keep your baby safety at home.
Home Safety , Make the Home Safe:
Do everything you can to make the house safe. Install protective plastic plugs in sockets, window screens, flaps at the top and bottom of the stairs and barriers around fireplaces or other heat sources. Put strong latches on cabinet doors to keep the baby from ingesting medications, cleaners and cosmetics. Keep cutting knives and electrical appliances out of reach and never leave cords within easy reach.Home Safety , Security Guaranteed:
At least every six months you should do a general home inspection to ensure its continued safe. If possible, be sure to include outdoor areas such as gardens, swimming pools etc..
Home Safety , Establish limits:
Also make positive reinforcements. Tell the child what they can and can not do. So they know where they can explore as well as which areas are prohibited. Try to establish more rules “do” than “don’ts.” Help the baby to safely explore, your child has a natural need to explore as much as we try to restrict it. To the appropriate extent, teach them to play without being in a situation of risk. Rather than trying to confine them to a specific areas of the house. For example, explain to them never to pick up and put in their mouth piece of any plant, when in the garden. And that they should not get too close to the face of an animal.Protect but ensure safe fun your child will not learn unless actively involved in the world around them. This always involves some degree of risk. Encourage them to try new activities and explore. But always make sure the child is properly equipped. For example, if you are using proper protective equipment, such as helmet when riding a tricycle or bicycle, and is not playing on some playground with untied laces or cords or loose jacket.
